A 1-Year-Old Chihuahua Gives Birth to 11 Healthy Puppies

No kidding around here: a Chihuahua named LOL gave birth to 11 puppies on March 23, National Puppy Day.

LOL, who was surrendered to Unleashed Pet Rescue in Mission, Kansas just days before giving birth while in foster care, is only a year-and-a-half old. This marks the dog’s second litter in her young life.

“It is not easy on a small dog to have puppies,” Rebecca Taylor of Unleashed Pet Rescue told petMD, who adds that LOL “made it through delivery very well with her foster keeping a very close eye on her and babies.”

The pups, who are just a week old, are being fed by their mother, as well as receiving supplements when needed.

While LOL and her babies are thriving (and, yes, very cute) it’s a reminder of the urgency to spay and neuter pets. LOL and her litter will be spayed/neutered, fully vaccinated and microchipped before being available for adoption.

LOL’s amazing story has caught the attention of social media and the news alike, but even with all the hubbub, Taylor says she “has been wonderful with so many visitors and cameras around.”

“She is a laid back girl and is a great mom,” Taylor says. “LOL is a very mellow girl.”

Anyone interested in adopting LOL or one of her puppies can apply here.
