Kenny Chesney’s Foundation Brings Rescued Dogs to Florida for a Second Chance
One part of the coordinated efforts of his foundation was the rescue of dogs left homeless by the storm. Kenny Chesney joined together with Big Dog Ranch Rescue (BDRR) to coordinate the transport of 1000 rescued dogs to the BDRR facility in Loxahatchee, Florida.
Lauree Simmons, founder and president of Big Dog Ranch Rescue, explains to WPTV during an interview about the rescue dogs, “We got a phone call from Kenny Chesney and his tour manager, Jill Trunnell, and [they] said we really need help with the abandoned animals in the US Virgin Islands.”
BDRR has helped around 1000 rescue dogs, and provided each dog with much needed veterinary care as well as additional treatments for some of the dogs who had contracted heartworm disease. Simmons explains to WPTV, “We are just so appreciative that he jumped in to help us because without Love for Love City, Kenny Chesney and Jill, we wouldn’t [have] been able to save these innocent lives.”
On May 24, 2018, at Kenny Chesney’s concert at the Coral Sky Amphitheatre in South Florida, he shared a documentary of all of the coordinated efforts made to help the pets left homeless after the hurricanes.
There are still some of the rescue dogs helped by Kenny Chesney and Love for Love City available for adoption at Big Dog Ranch Rescue.
