ON BEING A VET STUDENT | Sarah May

A video in which I sit on the floor, drinking coffee, and chatting about things you suggested on Twitter. I noticed a trend – a lot of people want to hear about my experiences in vet school. So, given that it’s finals time, I thought it was appropriate.

Hey guys! Sometime soon I’ll be filming a video answering questions I often get about vet school. SO, if you have any questions you’d like me to answer feel free to reply to this comment and I’ll try to address them! I’m expecting I’ll have it up by the end of July 🙂

I would like to become a wildlife veterinarian I would also like to work in a zoo, but at the same time i am honestly not good in science and I struggle with math, but I can do basic math like you said. how would I get started with my career in college? also any advice on how I approach my career? I have always loved animals ever since I was little and I have always wanted to become a veterinarian throughout high school I have changed my thoughts on my career I went to wanting to become a veterinarian to a forensic psychologist but I thought I would just stick to the original plan which was to become a veterinarian. pls give me any advice you have. thanks 🙂 x

I remember when I was very young, everyone my age wanted to be a veterinarian, including me. In many years things have changed, and not many people my age want to be a vet anymore, but I still do. Even though it can be disgusting, and I will have to see animal death sometimes, it’s worth it to help.

I really want to be a vet! Though I’m scared about the science side. I’ve always been top set in my science classes and got good grades but I’m afraid I’ll find uni science too hard. Arghh

man i could relate so hard with the high school thing where you hate science but love animals so much and can’t imagine doing anything else haha. currently im going in my last year of high school and i was so lost with what my future plans are, i was heading towards the road of becoming a child care teacher as well because im already taking child development and gaining tons of experience at my internship, but suddenly this summer i discovered i really do want to become a vet! i love kids but i love animals as well and realistically im going to be doing schooling the same amount of years for both so mind as well become a vet?! i have always loved science but did horrible with physics and chem because of all the math LOL but bio was great i loved that. i don’t think vet school does much of chem nor physics right? but im really worried of doing horrible in chem and physics in college which wouldn’t get me into vet school with it weighing my gpa down. :/ i’ve been watching a lot of videos and finding out more about the career its self and vet school. im so worried for vet school just because there aren’t very many in the US and id have to move out of my city and i have no idea how housing is going to happen because id be straight up broke at vet school HAHA. all and all, im going to call my local vet near me asking if i could shadow her and hopefully gain some experience and hours. SORRY FOR TALKING SO MUCH ON HERE LOL KIND OF JUST LET EVERYTHING OUT ON HERE

Me with the science, I’m an artist on commission and honestly I’ve always wanted to go into art professionally and I still do, that’s been my dream since I was like 3 but since I was about 7 I’ve had a real love for animals and it’s also a real lucrative and well paying career to be a vet. So I’m getting over the science, still holding onto my art dreams, and going for a career in vet sci.

I am desperate to become a vet however I have a massive phobia of birds. I don’t mind studying them but do you have to study with a live bird? I was just wondering about it in uni because my vet said that I could possibly just become a mammal vet but I’m not sure what has changed since her time. Plesseeee help me!

Wow! I found another red-headed Sarah who wants to be a vet! 🙂 Funny enough, I actually wanted to be a graphic designer before wanting to be a vet…I recently decided to go to school to be a veterinarian and in researching it, came across this. Very helpful!
