There is a shortage of large animal veterinarians all across the country. And if the current trend continues, the availability of veterinarians to take care of food production animals will be significantly reduced in the next decade. Reporter Yolanda Vazquez travels with a food production veterinarian in Massachusetts as he makes his rounds to New England dairy farms.     Its not that their is a shortage of rural vets, their is a shortage of jobs for new students that want to work with large animals. That should be the focus here..

    My daughter is a Cornell trained large animal vet and found a job in 2011, but there were not many available anywhere…the established practices are not hiring!
