Where on a dogs body should you use a stethoscope to hear a dogs heartbeat? I have been hearing the left side is the best and if so is this true and then how do I find the left side of his body to hear it?

How do I know which side of the dogs body is the left side? So then where exactly should I place a stethoscope in order to hear the heartbeat on a dog including a muscular dog? Because I tried to hear the heartbeat of my friends dog which we think is muscular and we were having troubles hearing it ok? Please respond to me real soon ok thanks again
