Clear the Shelters Event Helps 91,500 Pets and Counting Get Adopted
Since this year’s Clear the Shelters event launched, 91,500 pets and (and counting) have been adopted, according to the adoption tracker on the Clear the Shelters homepage.
On Saturday, August 18, more than 1,200 pet shelters participated in the Clear the Shelters pet adoption drive, which waived or reduced adoption fees.
According to Clear the Shelters, over 24,000 pets were adopted on Saturday alone.
Clear the Shelters has set these new pet parents up for success by providing helpful information and things to keep in mind after you adopt a pet on their website.
Clear the Shelters also shared some heartwarming stories of people who took a new pet home during the event. Here are some of the success stories that Clear the Shelters shared from their cat and dog adoption drive:

13-year-old June Bug was one of the pets adopted on Saturday. June Bug was a feral dog living in Puerto Rico who had been rescued after Hurricane Maria. A woman came in to the shelter just for her—now that’s love!

According to Clear the Shelters, Molly’s new mom, Jane DeNoto, had been waiting for the right moment to adopt another cat since her cat, Gretel, passed away eight months ago. “She’s a little bit shy, quiet,” DeNoto said of Molly. “When I saw her, I thought, ‘She’s another Gretel!'”
