Goldfish Surgery Of Damaged Popped Eye By Fish Veterinarian Dr Loh

Goldfish Surgery Of Damaged Popped Eye By Fish Veterinarian Dr Loh

In this video we show you a surgical procedure used to treat a goldfish with a damaged, bulging popped eye, unfortunately for this fish the only cure was to remove the damaged popped eye with surgery, though with one eye removed this goldfish was treated and is expected to make a full recovery and is already happily swimming back in his pond.

What are your thoughts on Salt for 2ndary infection of the wound? I have had a Jacobferbergii get stuck in a cichlid cave for about 20 mins and his head had a nasty abrasion…next day it looked like a cotton film was covering it. I upped the salt level to 4ppt and next day it was a nice pink wound ready to heal ..today is day 4 and its almost looking good to go. Just wondering if you promote Salt for treatments over antibiotics and stuff like Melafix, Pimafix, etc….Thanks for your expertise. Awesome videos!

This was so awesome. Thanks for post. Love the surgery explanation but was troubled when you are handling the tools with your bare hands…just thinking about all commensal bacteria on human hands that might be adverse for other species

if this was my goldfish, or I had a goldfish with pop eye, I’d honestly let the fish live out the rest of his life/flush it down the toilet, then buy a new one. goldfish are pretty common, there’s no reason to waste your money on surgery…. but then again, some people do have unhealthy attachments to their goldfish, and in extreme cases, the owner is fully convinced that they’re the fishs mother/father…
