Milo’s Kitchen Dog Treats Voluntarily Recalled Due to Potentially Elevated Levels of Thyroid Hormone
A limited production of two varieties of Milo’s Kitchen have been voluntarily and temporarily recalled by the The J.M. Smucker Company.
Both Milo’s Kitchen Steak Grillers/Steak Grillers Recipe with Angus Steak and Milo’s Kitchen Grilled Burger Bites with Sweet Potato and Bacon were found to have potentially contained elevated levels of beef thyroid hormone.
According to a statement from the FDA released on March 22, “Dogs consuming high levels of beef thyroid hormone may exhibit symptoms such as increased thirst and urination, weight loss, increased heart rate and restlessness. These symptoms may resolve when the consumption of these levels is discontinued.”
The statement also says that with prolonged consumption, the symptoms may increase in severity and can include vomiting, diarrhea and rapid or labored breathing. If you notice any of these symptoms in your dog, contact your veterinarian immediately.
Three illnesses were reported to the FDA, who informed Smucker of the issue. Smucker “immediately initiated a voluntary recall of the limited, impacted production,” according to the statement.
Customers who have purchased Milo’s Kitchen products with the following UPC codes should discard them: 079100518227, 079100518227, 079100518234, 079100527762, 079100521265. No other Milo’s Kitchen dog treats or any other product manufactured by The J.M. Smucker Company have been impacted.
